Headline Fungicide

More on Mode of Action
Headline® fungicide is active on foliar and soil-borne diseases representing all four categories of fungi. A site-specific fungicide, it stops spores as they germinate, preventing them from infecting plant tissue. By interfering with cell respiration and the production of energy, Headline causes the fungus to stop growing and die.

Plant Health benefits that increase harvest quality and quantity
Headline starts with great disease control. But you'll see its benefits throughout the season in the form of optimized growth, or plant health. This occurs when plants aren't fighting disease, thanks to Headline, and as a result have more energy to spend on growth and yield production.

In thousands of Headline on-farm trials in the United States and all over the world, here's what growers and researchers have observed as the three elements of Plant Health:

  • Better disease control is the foundation of Plant Health. Foliar diseases weaken plants and sap their energy, resulting in poor growth and yields. Headline prevents the most harmful diseases of corn, soybeans, wheat, potatoes, peanuts, sugar beets, citrus and many other crops for which Headline is registered.
  • Increased growth efficiency is visible in a number of ways. Leaves typically stay greener right to maturity, ensuring a steady stream of sugar for grain and seed fill. Plants treated with Headline grow more efficiently because more carbon (stored energy) is used for plant growth and yield rather than lost in respiration. Also, Headline improves plants' nitrogen efficiency, resulting in increased yield-producing growth.
  • Improved stress resistance is critical if crops are to overcome potential environmental setbacks and yield well. And Headline has been shown to improve the plants' response to heat, chill and insufficient or excess soil moisture.

Application
Although Headline controls diseases after infection has occurred, it performs best when applied in a regularly scheduled preventative spray program, stopping diseases before they can infect the plant. Headline is an emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulation, which mixes quickly in the spray tank, dispersing the active ingredient throughout the spray solution.

Resistance Management
As always, growers should practice best resistance management practices when using Headline by alternating fungicides with different modes of action and limiting the frequency of use in a season.
Other recommended management strategies include:

· Using multiple control tactics other than chemical control, such as crop rotation and use of resistant varieties;

·Incorporating a well-timed preventative application program to prevent pathogen buildup between sprays;

·Following label rates and recommendations;

·Using fungicides when they are most effective; and

·Applying fungicides at optimal crop growth and disease stage.

Read what others are saying about Headline Fungicide
"I haven't seen a product (for peanuts) like this come along in a long time. Headline is as good as or better than anything we have on the market now."
- Dr. A.J. Jaks, Texas A&M University

"I like to use Headline during early summer for melanose and greasy spot control (in citrus), because we can use it to avoid crop injury from copper. It's perfect to control both diseases that time of year."
- Dr. Pete Timmer, University of Florida

"Headline works wonderfully on early and late blight (in potatoes)."
- Dr. Gary Secor, North Dakota State University

"Our work shows that Headline used in a fungicide rotation program with other compounds is among the most effective treatments for Cercospora leaf spot (in sugar beets)."
- Dr. Mohamed Khan, North Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota
