CLEARFIELD – Clearing the way for sunflowers.
With its unique combination of herbicide-tolerant hybrids and Beyond® herbicide, the CLEARFIELD® Production System for sunflowers offers growers many production advantages. To start, Beyond makes broad-spectrum control of problem weeds possible. Beyond delivers post-emergent control of key broadleaf weeds and grasses including marshelder, cocklebur, nightshade, foxtail species (pigeongrass) and wild mustard.
Along with the herbicide tolerance that results in better weed control and higher sunflower yields, all CLEARFIELD sunflower hybrids are developed using traditional plant breeding techniques so the resulting crop can meet the global demand for non-GMO grains.
A growing choice of hybrids.
The selection of CLEARFIELD hybrids continues to expand for all uses, especially the NuSun® or mid-oleic oil market. NuSun hybrids produce oil with distinct advantages for U.S. food markets. The mid-range oleic (monounsaturated) sunflower oil is 20 percent lower in saturated fats than already-low traditional sunflower oil.

Expanding market opportunities.
Regulatory approvals have also cleared the way for the expanded use of CLEARFIELD sunflowers. Not only are CLEARFIELD sunflower oil and meal approved for food and meal use, CLEARFIELD sunflowers can also be used in confectionary products.
CLEARFIELD sunflowers are available in all oil classes; NuSun, HiOleic, and Linoleic. Downy mildew resistance is available in some of the NuSun CLEARFIELD sunflower hybrids. CLEARFIELD sunflowers are also available in confectionary hybrids.
