Farmers find the right timing with BASF products

David Mohler

Timing is of great importance in a farmer’s life, and planting crops within the proper time frame has an impact on success and yield. For fifth-generation farmer David Mohler, his family has invested a lot of time in their 2,600 acre corn and soybean farm in Frankfurt, Indiana.

After a very wet spring in 2012, Mohler was late in burning down weeds and planting. However, with OpTill® PRO herbicide, powered by Kixor® herbicide technology, he was able to catch up, getting rid of growth in a timely manner that helped the fields dry quickly.

“In a lot of cases, some of the winter annuals and the marestail got to be a pretty good size,” said Mohler. “So, we would spray, and I would go back and look, and the next day, everything was wilted and by the second or third day, it was pretty much burned to the ground.”

In his bean crop, Mohler struggled with nightshade. He found solutions in Sharpen® herbicide and Pursuit® herbicide, powered by Kixor herbicide technology.

Pursuit herbicide gives us excellent control on the nightshade,” said Mohler. “With the addition of Sharpen herbicide, it’s helped with burndown and just done an excellent job.”
